This nature reserve is the largest in all of Aquitaine with its 200 ha of area. It is home to many species of birds such as herons, egrets, kingfishers, European pond turtle … There are also reptiles, bats and much more. Les Prés Salés are connected to the sea by a forest, which makes it a real natural treasure unique in its kind.

The natural site of Saint Brice

This protected natural area stretches between Ares and Andernos. It is one of the last vast natural spaces (or green clippings) on the coast of the Arcachon Basin. This site is made up of a harmonious set of freshwater ponds, natural aquariums, streams and estey (a small body of water fed by the sea which ends up dry at low tide).

The canal of the ponds

A perfect place for a family walk to be as close as possible to nature, this pond, dug out in the 19th century and fitted out, is part of the essential hiking circuits of Ares. It rises in the Médoc ponds and flows into the Arcachon Bay.
