In each town or village in the Arcachon basin, you will find the famous “fisherman’s huts” in the oyster ports, which constitute an important heritage for the region. They are maintained with great passion and with respect for the maritime environment. These villages are part of the exceptional landscape that makes the charm of our Arcachon Bay. Most of these huts are dedicated to oyster farming. Some of them are quite pleasant huts, and the vast majority are sorting cellars. These wooden huts have one standard feature in common: they have the same dimensions (6m x 4m), have no floor, are all aligned and separated from each other by 2 m, and are covered with channel tiles. Tasting fresh oysters directly in the oyster hut is like a tradition. Vacationers also like to sit on a terrace facing the sea to taste these tasty molluscs accompanied by caviar, clams, shrimp, or whelks which are also in abundance in the region. Of course, the tasting cannot be done without a glass of white or rosé wine… your good life!

THE FOUR MAIN TERRITORIES IN WHICH OSITRICULTURE IS THE MOST DEVELOPED ARE CAP FERRET, GRAND BANC, BANC D’ARGUIN AND BIRD ISLAND
